Jun 2010 - Aug 2020
For six summers, I oversaw curriculum design and implementation for an immersive Russian-language summer camp with between 80-130 students, age 7-18. I embodied the mission of inspiring courageous global citizenship through language proficiency. In 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017, I managed between 15-30 staff members’ teaching and cultural workshops, coached staff from the US and former Soviet Union on developing activities appropriate for middle and high school students, and designed simulation activities to explain the fundamentals of international relations, patterns of labor migration, and climate change. In 2020, I collaborated with the camp dean to pivot to virtual language instruction; created innovative educational resources and programming, including videos, online games, and interactive reading guides. Apr 2015 - Jun 2017
I integrated into four Kyrgyzstani communities over two years and familiarized myself with social and professional norms in Kyrgyz culture. I worked in a university, a secondary school, and a pedagogical college to develop the professional skills of local English-language educators. I wrote a grant to organize a 4-day training for 20 teachers from rural communities in the southern Jalalabad region on pedagogical best practices.
