Bio
I had the pleasure of learning from and working with Colleen while coordinating ULC's Lessons from the Field conference in Calgary, Alberta. Her project management skills and event experience were invaluable as we planned an intensive four day event while 2000 miles apart. While on site, her warmth, sense of humor, pragmatism, and deep understanding of her clients (and their needs) helped make the conference shine. What a treat getting to know her.
I have worked with Colleen in my capacity as a consultant to the Urban Libraries Council since 2012 and find her to be highly skilled and wonderful to work with. She is smart, committed to excellence in everything she does, and very knowledgeable about the work of today's public library systems. In her current position as Director of Conferences and Community Engagement, she is responsible for planning and overseeing multiple meetings and conferences ranging in size from 20 to 350+ participants including program content, meeting and hotel logistics, and collateral materials. Her attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple priorities, and capacity to deal with strong personalities have made her particularly effective in this high-pressure job. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, she understands how important members are to the success of any membership association and treats all ULC members from CEOs to administrative staff with warmth and respect. I have worked very closely with her on many projects and have found her to be a valuable resource and a great colleague.
