Dr. Colla J. MacDonald's research concentrates on curriculum design, evaluation and eLearning. She has been invited to present her cutting edge Learning frameworks, resources and evaluation tools across Canada and the US, the UK, Europe, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Africa, Japan and Korea. Her innovative resources are being used in over thirty countries. Colla has been principal investigator of SSHRC, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Inukshuk Wireless, Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Office of Learning Technologies and CIHR funded research projects. She published the Demand-Driven Learning Model and W(e)Learn framework which have been as quality standards to design, delivery and assess programs. Colla has won the International WebCt Exemplary Course Award (twice) the Business/Professional 2010 International e-Learning Award, and the Faculty of Education’s top researcher award. In 2016 she won the life time title of Distinguished University Professor. Dr. MacDonald has worked closely with the World Health Organization, The Registered Nurses Association and The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada. She has successfully supervised two Post Doctorate Candidates, 14 PhD and five MA students and has over 100-refereed publications. Dr. MacDonald retired as a full Professor Emeritus in 2016 but continues contracts with the Faculty of Medicine at uOttawa, the National Board of Medical Examiners in the US, Doctors without Boarders, and as a Senior Research Advisor at the University of Malta.
