  I worked with State Representative Martin Howrylak in representing the people of Troy and Clawson. As the back desk staffer, I worked primarily on policy matters and ensured the legislative issues were handled. This included creating workgroup meetings, analyzing bills and feedback by outside groups, and working with other offices to ensure our bills received committee hearings. One big issue I worked on while here was the “Raise the Age” initiative, which would allow 18 year olds to be tried in juvenile court, rather than in adult court. This meant a handful of meetings with prosecutors and local officials to ensure that the bill would have a desired outcome. Show less

  As an intern at the Ohio Board of Regents, I integrally worked with the Board's legislative and policy teams. The Board is also responsible for advising the Chancellor on issues of statewide importance affecting higher education. Issues that were discussed, addressed and impacted included institutional "land grant" status and ensuring colleges and universities in Ohio received sufficient and appropriate allocations of funding.
