During the majority of my time working at Humel Architects I have focused on the flagship project for the firms major client, RSL Lifecare. This has involved the submission and subsequent approval of an S96, (amendment to a development application) preparation of a tender package for the interior portion of the works and answering requests for information from the builder. I partake in weekly site walks with the builder and progress meetings with the project manager in order to help the senior Architect manage the job on a day to day basis. I have also prepared an outline DA proposal for the Master plan of a Retirement village consisting of 100 houses, a Retirement Home and Community Centre in Port Macquarie. Show less

I worked here as a part 1 architect and was asked to go back and work over the summer of 2008. I worked on several major projects within the company including the refurbishing of bank branches, health care projects and master planning. I gained experience in all stages of the construction process from feasibility studies through to completion drawings. I attended many meetings with clients, site managers, building officers etc. I worked here as a part 1 architect and was asked to go back and work over the summer of 2008. I worked here during my studies, mainly on new engineering buildings for the University of Edinburgh. Phase 1 was on site and phase 2 was at the tender stage. I worked with the project architect, accompanying him on site visits and helping to get the drawings ready to meet deadlines. I thoroughly enjoyed the work experience here and it gave me the resolve to pursue a career as an architect.
