Colene was a true pleasure to work with. There were many times when she and I collaborated on projects and I could always count on her to get the job done. I also quickly came to value her expertise in a number of fields – including environmental, water, and solid waste issues – that were major contributing factors to the success of the projects.

Colene's experience in her field has served as a valuable resource for me when I have questions regarding environmental issues. In addition to her regular work load, she has taken on extra projects and saw them through to completion. When she first joined the staff she "inherited" the administration of an urban forestry grant which was already underway. The project involved coordination of volunteers to develop materials about urban forestry for public works. She scheduled locations and speakers for regional and national presentations as well as a national web-based education program, managed the distribution of free materials to members and coordinated volunteers for a Congressional staff briefing. Colene was also the liaison to the contractor on the project, Davey Resource Group and cooperated with the Society of Municipal Arborists. Additionally, she worked with the marketing department to publicize the program as well as the APWA Controller for reporting of grant deliverables. The urban forestry project was just one of the special projects and/or task forces she coordinated during her tenure at APWA. She can be counted on to follow-through to completion projects of all types.
