I conduced interviews with human subjects analyzing the relationship between politics and language. I transcribed interviews and reading passages, and then ran regressions in R to analyze any significant results. The project hoped to analyze how language pronunciation has changed over time and how different accents are defined. Additionally, the project was looking to see if political beliefs and specific accents are correlated. I received college credit for this research. I worked under a Ph.D. student at Dr. Levi Wood's Systems Biology of Inflammation Lab. I learned a variety of lab techniques, including Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. These lab techniques were used to research microglia and the roles of how certain proteins might affect the inflammatory response of microglia. This inflammatory response is found in Traumatic Brain Injuries and Alzheimer's disease. I worked under a Ph.D. student at Dr. Levi Wood's Systems Biology of Inflammation Lab.
