ASHLEY PENROD
Colby is wonderful to work for. He is intuitive to the needs of his team, and leads will generosity, open communication, and accepts criticisms humbly. I have never had manager that led with genuine interest in his team's thoughts, and outside hobbies. I appreciated Colby's motivation to ACTUALLY be a better leader, and team member- he was always trying to engage us, and receive feedback on ways that we would like to grow intellectually and as a unit.
Vickie Holbrook
I worked with Colby at Boise State University (2008-2009) where he was first a student, then a teacher's assistant for two consecutive terms. Colby embraces life and school with enthusiasm and passion. In today's world, those are necessary elements that employers appreciate. Colby has a strong work ethic and holds himself (and others) to a very high standard. Colby is loyal and will step up and help wherever needed. He is a quick learner and has the ability to teach others what he knows. As a journalist, Colby has a good knack for asking the right questions. And finally, Colby is a good person and fun to be around.

Lead Project Manager
-
Mar 2015 - Present
I handle SEO marketing projects for clients across the globe. My tasks include coordinating and setting strategic scope, outline project timelines and key deliverables (ugh; hate that word), collaborating across several teams, solving problems, and reporting results to stakeholders.Additionally, I occupy an advisor role on the Senior Management team. In this role I take part in daily conversations related to the growth and maturation of the company, with special attention paid to how it impacts Project Managers and our ability to successfully partner with our clients.

Team Manager
-
Dec 2013 - Mar 2015
I focus my efforts in three areas:1) Training. Most of the people we hire possess little-to-no marketing or SEO experience. Instead, we hire smart and creative people who can communicate well and teach them how to be excellent marketers, SEOs and link builders. It's my job to give these people the tools and training they need to succeed.2) Organize. I lead the way in organizing client strategic plans, ensuring that we're both moving in the right direction and accomplishing tasks in the right order. In a real sense, I'm the glue that holds the process together.3) Support. Elements like natural light and the correct temperature affect people's productivity and job satisfaction. It's my job to make sure members are supported by having these, and other, needs fulfilled. Whether it's a new keyboard, a brainstorming session or a walk to the coffee shop to unload some frustrations, it's my honor and privilege to support my team members every step of the way.

Writer Lead
-
Dec 2012 - May 2013
As Writer Lead I oversaw a team of 10 writers-turned-link builders. This position no longer exists at Page One Power, but during this time I was responsible for ensuring my team produced quality articles in a timely manner with the goal of acquiring relevant links for our clients' websites.

Link Builder & Writer
-
Aug 2012 - Nov 2012
During this time it was my job to improve my client's place in Google's search engine rankings. Primarily, I accomplished this by writing professional articles and getting them published on well-known sites. For example, you can find stuff I've written on such sites as TechRepblic.com, Dice.com, BizTech Magazine, TheNichereport.com and many others.Skills I used in this Job:> Creating a personal connection with strangers (blog owners and website editors)> Providing well-written and thought-provoking articles> Project management (balancing four different clients, each with a set number of hours each month)> Creativity: Sometimes writing an article isn't the best approach. Some of my best work is from when I had to find an unorthodox approach

Researched and write informative and How To articles for websites, such as eHow.com. If I had the choice to go back in time, I wouldn't do it again. That said, I learned a great deal about writing efficiently, how the internet works and how much I believed writers should be paid. News Editor

May 2008 - Apr 2009
I led a team of eight to 10 journalists who developed stories in various mediums, including print, online, podcast and video.I left this position feeling as if I was a total leadership failure. I promised myself I wouldn't take another leaderships position for a year, and dedicated myself to learning how to lead better. I believe it's this experience and commitment that turned me into the talented leader I am today.
