Dr. Min Cao's lab at Clemson University is focused on two areas of research. The first is bacteria, host, and inter-kingdom communications while the second was the effects of nutraceuticals and probiotics on health. The latter focused on improving human health by utilizing Caenorhabditis elegans as a model.Initially, I was tasked with:● Troubleshooting and fixing problems that senior researchers encountered while investigating their experimental areas● Working conjointly with senior researchers to conduct online research and deconstruct and rewrite protocols in order to design experiments that would produce viable data● Data that was gathered was published in PLOSAfter demonstrating my competency, I was given the opportunity to organize and manage my own research project focusing on determining the effect differing proteins have on the quorum sensing pathways in Vibrio cholera. This required:● Designed my own protocols ● Demonstrated proficiency conducting numerous lab techniques● Kept detailed and organized notes ● Utilized complex equations and programs to create graphical compilations of data● Compiled and analyzed research data that I presented at weekly progress meeting with my adviser ● Wrote monthly papers to outline my progress and findings that were submitted to my adviser● Created and delivered presentations on my findings to my adviser and other members of the research department every 3-4 months● Interacted with other researchers to compile data on individual projects in order to answer "big picture" research questions

CASA is an elite soccer club in Upstate South Carolina. It provides teams for kids aged 8 to 18. I served as a coach for the 11 and 12 year old age group. I aspired to teach them about teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and leadership while inspiring self confidence. My team performed well on and off the field and showed great improvement over the three years I coached them. They placed last in their first two tournaments, but improved drastically and won the James Island Cup in 2014. CASA is an elite soccer club in Upstate South Carolina.
