I have worked on three polar bear projects. First project was preparing and collection of data from polar bear blood serum to determine if a polar bear has eaten in the past 7-10 days on the date the serum was collected, the serums dated from the 1980's to 2017. My second was preparing polar bear fur for stable isotope to see if the bears have eaten during the summer time, and what type of things they were eating. The third and final project was preparing polar bear fur for examination of the stress hormone cortisol, bears would be more stressed if there wasn't plenty of food to eat, or being a mother polar bear would be more stressful, causing them to have more cortisol hormones in the fur.
