Rachel is a fantastic and reliable person to work with! During her time as a Student Brand Ambassador at UMass-Amherst, Rachel successfully advanced the Kaplan brand on campus by developing and securing a network of club relationships and connections with fellow undergraduates. This role requires a strong communication skills and an understanding of leveraging both social media and in-person connections in order to accomplish these goals. Rachel excelled in all both areas, oftentimes being one of our team's top performers in social media engagement. I also appreciated that Rachel was willing to further her responsibilities in the role by becoming a peer mentor for incoming new hires on my team and guiding these hires through their training program. In short, Rachel has an amazing and varied skill-set -- especially within networking and communication -- and will make a great part of any team!

    • Residential Assistant
      • Aug 2016 - May 2018

As a residential assistant I was responsible for the well being of my residents. This included creating a welcoming environment, planning and marketing community strengthening events, and standing as an authority figure to enforce housing policies. To accomplish the tasks set before me, I worked with a large residential life team and by working together we strived to maintain a safe and healthy atmosphere for the students and people who attend and work at Umass Amherst. My coworkers often came to me for advice or help with different situations, trusting my knowledge and knowing I would always be willing to help them. I loved this job and working with my staff and residents. I came out with a few interesting stories and I think I am prepared for just about anything life can throw at me.

      • May 2016 - May 2018

As a student brand ambassador (SBA), I maintained relationships between Kaplan and both its national partners and local partners that reside on the Umass Amherst campus. Working primarily online, I used many different types of social media platforms and digital communication to successfully market Kaplan's resources and create mutually beneficial partnerships with club organizations. It was my job to build the Kaplan brand and aid students in their preparation for graduate school admissions tests such as the LSAT, MCAT, GRE etc. I did this through sharing content and creating original copy, running marketing campaigns, and I also conducted presentations in front of club audiences to provide them with useful information about all that Kaplan has to offer. Out of 276 other Kaplan employees, I often ranked #1 and within the top 3 performers for successful social media engagement. As an SBA Mentor I guided new brand ambassadors through the training program and provided support to them as they came into their own in the position. This involved leading check-in calls, answering questions, explaining social media strategies, and leading regional video calls to report feedback of Kaplan's work processes.

    • Head Receptionist and Peer Advisor
      • Sep 2014 - May 2018

As the Head Receptionist for the Bachelor’s Degree with Individual Concentration program (BDIC) I had many different responsibilities. I worked with fellow students and faculty every day helping them to understand everything about the major, how the office worked, and making sure employees felt confident in their positions and office visitors were treated as a priority. Every week I led employee training meetings which helped me develop communication skills and promote respect between employees. My favorite thing was to promote inspiration, especially for the BDIC students who came into the office. BDIC is one of the most self-motivated majors at Umass because it allows students to develop their own unique major by going through a vigorous, semester long application process where they plan and develop a proposal for their new curriculum. As the Peer Advisor Coordinator I held office hours with my students, editing their proposals and providing advice to help guide them before their final proposals were reviewed by the faculty supervisors and department directors. I found this job incredibly rewarding. It was extremely hands on, and personable. I was the first person people encountered when entering the office and I strived to make them feel welcome and important, offering as much knowledge and help to them as I could. I also represented BDIC at open houses, helped plan events for the department, and assisted in executing the BDIC Graduation Ceremonies in 2016 and 2017.

Working as an intern for 8 weeks abroad in Barcelona for Fuera de Campo Films was an incredible experience. I was a valuable asset in maintaining communication and keeping contact databases accurate and updated. I researched film festivals and submitted many of the company's original film projects as well as aided in translating summaries and plot synopsis of past and ongoing projects. Living and working in Spain was rewarding, I was able to gain cultural experience, travel to multiple different countries, learn how to navigate around foreign cities, improve my communication skills, and build upon my confidence and independence as a person.

I provided excellent customer service to patrons, prepared food, and maintained the store. I loved talking with customers and the regulars came in often saying our store was the best one in the area. My boss entrusted me with a key to the store and I opened and closed, performing all the necessary procedures. My coworkers and I worked great as a team which was why our storefront was so successful. I provided excellent customer service to patrons, prepared food, and maintained the store.
