  The Canterbury Connected Business Improvement District (BID) is a non-profit business-funded partnership established in Autumn 2014. With an annual budget of £500k the BID's role is to ensure continued investment in Canterbury City centre represent over 650 business members. Currently I Chair a board of 15 directors drawn from independent traders, representatives from national businesses and the voluntary sector. The board also includes representation from Kent County Council, Canterbury City Council and voluntary groups.

  Having always been interested in "giving back" I established a small CSR office team to identify ways to encourage staff within the Firm to generate funds for good causes, whilst at the same time introduced systems to reduce the Firm's carbon footprint.

  In this role I contributed to the successful growth of a business service sector line within the Firm and established the Finance Focus and Budget Breakfast event both of which remain a popular part of the Firm's calendar of technical events for the clients and others.I also become part of the Firm's team involved in building new relationships overseas with other members of Kreston International (a network of independent accounting practices based in over 100 countries around the world) . This engagement saw me build new contacts in the United States (particularly the East Coast) which has proved beneficial to many of the Firm's clients.

  Honorary Treasurer of the Marlowe Theatre Trust since 2008 at which time plans to demolish the old theatre and build a new (significantly larger) theatre were well advanced.My role included working closely with the fundraising group (funds secured £5.0 million) culminating in the successful opening of the new Marlowe Theatre in October 2011.Since reopening, attendance figures have exceeded all expectations and fundraising activity continues to attract funds to support outreach programmes in the region and develop the theatre as a "producing" venue.
