    • Managing Director
      • Mar 2003 - Dec 2012

The Group divested its Gasket Manufacturing Operation and following a transitional period was asked to take over as Managing Director in the Spring of 2003. The Period from then until early 2005 saw difficult trading conditions. With a better economic climate from 2005 to 2008 we have managed to build a very strong sales team which is seeing the company head toward our first target of £20M turnover. In 2008 the Econosto Group was taken over by the ERIKS Group (www.eriks.com), this has seen the company gain a whole new market within the UK which is again assisting in moving us ever closer to £20M.Whilst maintaining a focus on growing our core activities and developing the business my role is also focused toward integrating our products and services into the ERIKS UK organisation and assisting them to develop strong Valve sales within their MRO contracts and customers. • General Manager
      • Jun 1996 - Mar 2003

Oversaw the transition of the company from a Privately owned business to part of the Royal Econosto Group. The period from 1999 to 2003 was particularly tough as increasing competition and low oil prices meant that everyone was fighting for a piece of an ever smaller cake.Despite the prevailing market conditions we managed to gain a strong foothold in new markets and maintain our position in our core Oil, Gas and Petrochemical markets

  • Ball Valves UK Limited
    • Countesthorpe and later Whetstone, Leicestershire.
    • Contracts Manager
      • Feb 1990 - Jun 1996

Joined the company the Spring of 1990 responsible for building a contract Sales and Management division in what was mainly an MRO supplier to the trade. I quickly had many successes and generated a department that could generate over 50% of the Company's business. Discovered new suppliers (in a Pre-Internet Age) and oversaw a rapidly expanding department. During this period I managed to dramatically increase our direct sales to the Oil and Gas OEM's, Contractors and End-Users at both our Leicester and Aberdeen Offices. Show less

Responsible for the Design and Developement of their Carbide Tipped tools for the Mining and Road Planing industries. At this time there was a sharp decline in the UK Coal Mining Industry and faced with the closure of mines on an almost weekly basis decided that my future was back in Valves. Left Orbit Valves to join former Marwin Controls MD, Michael Steele, as a Sales Engineer at his new Company Starline UK. The work was wide and varied and included Design Work, Production Engineering and Sales. Brought with me a great deal of experience on the Marwin product range which allowed the business to experience huge growth for the first few years as we became key suppliers to British Gas and their Morecambe Bay development. During this Period I was hired out for 4 months to Hydrocarbons GB/Brown and Root to work in Barrow-In-Furness advising on the repair of Floating and Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves. Show less
