The best thing about Clifton is that he is very capable of thinking outside of the proverbial box. This is not to say that he has his head in the clouds in any way. He is firmly grounded in reality and has built an outstanding organization of managers, engineers, programmers, etc. under his care. His group could easily be unplugged from APU and plugged in at any other university without a hitch.
