My professional relationship with Cliff carry across a number of years on several different levels. First, Cliff served as one of my early "teachers" in television news. When I started at WTVM, I had solid journalistic experience in radio news but little in television. I quickly learned from Cliff's wisdom and patience in teaching me the ropes of television. He was the calming influence in the newsroom, wearing many hats but wearing all well. No matter how pressure the situation, Cliff always kept his cool and got the job. In the years since we worked together, I've always tried to follow his example in this manner. Above all, he was an extremely solid journalist and manager, juggling a limited number of resources and maximizing their output daily. Second, we worked together for several years in a professional organization (Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association). Again, Cliff's wisdom, organization skills and maturity proved invaluable in making our association a model across the country. Finally, when I worked at the ABC affiliate in Birmingham, our stations maintained a close relationship and traded material constantly. Under Cliff's leadership, WAAY had the reputation as one of the best television news organizations in Alabama. No matter the nature of our relationship, I always considered Cliff among the best. I would give Cliff an excellent recommendation, and am confident he would be an asset to any organization.

News Reporter, Associate Producer
-
1973 - 1977
I covered a full spectrum of general assignment news stories, researching, developing and scripting each. Then I combined these elements with film and video tape to produce a finished television news report. News reporters were also responsible for maintaining and regularly working with news contacts from diverse collections of individuals and organizations, analyzing the information developed and breaking down complex or highly technical issues into language easily understood by the masses. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential in the endeavor, as are timeliness and the ability to meet stringent deadlines. As an Associate Producer I worked directly with the producers of the early and late evening newscasts and carried out specific duties including news writing and editing. http://www.11alive.com/

Announcer. News Reporter, Public Affairs Director, Public Relations Director
-
1971 - 1973
WRAS FM is a full power non-commercial educational radio station broadcasting to metropolitan Atlanta. The students of Georgia State University operate it as a public service to the community. I began my practical college learning experience here as a staff announcer for music programs. A limited staff resulted in my quickly assuming additional responsibilities of, in order of assumption, news reporter, Public Affairs Director and Public Relations Director. As a news reporter I covered news events of interest to the academic community and general public. I presented these reports in numerous daily newscasts that I anchored from the studio. As Public Affairs Director, I wrote, voiced and scheduled all public service announcements the station aired daily. In this position I developed, produced and hosted a weekly one-hour issues oriented program featuring community leaders as quests. As Public Relations Director, I published a weekly newsletter of station programming and activities. Upon passing the appropriate examination in 1971, I obtained a Federal Communications Commission third class radio operator’s license with broadcast endorsement. http://wras.org/
