After five years working as a senior hardware engineer, I moved in to the IT department where I studied for, and obtained my MCSE qualification. I also attended official Microsoft Exchange, SQL and SharePoint administration training courses. During my time in IT, the company saw many changes including mergers, name changes, takeovers, as well as the ever present advances in technology. This lead to my hands-on involvement many aspects of IT including : Migration from NT4 and Exchange 5.5 to Active Directory. Installation of Microsoft SQL and migration of legacy databases. Establishing site based VPNs, routing and WAN links. Configuring trust relationships with other Active Directory domains. Creating new domains and migrating users and resources. Splitting users and resources between new domains and configuring email routing. Implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies. Configuration and support of telephone systems. Switchover of internet service providers, including routing, IP, and firewall changes. Planning, installation and support of Microsoft SharePoint. Mass roll out of user workstations and operating system upgrades. Preparing standard images and use of SysPrep. End user support of Windows, Office, ERP systems, printer maintenance. Management and purchase of software licensing. Working with Microsoft services including DNS, DHCP, IIS, ISA, Terminal Services, Outlook Anywhere, Group Policy. Working with non-Microsoft products including Symantec Anti-Virus, Backup Exec, Linux, Apache, MySQL, Joomla, Wordpress, Oracle, MCA Solutions, Qlikview.
