US military special operations forces (tactical athletes) are strength, power, and endurance athletes all i none, and their nutrition requirements are extreme and highly advanced. Unlike with many conventional athletes, e.g. in professional sports, the training and operational - and thus the mental, physical, and nutritional - requirements of the tactical athlete can vary to a great degree. Barriers to meeting these needs, including fluid and total energy requirements, are often highly significant. Highly practical and innovative forward thinking in addition to expertise - such as I have developed - in the following are critical:Tactical nutrition solutionsMaximizing cognitive and physical performanceTraining and race/event fueling plansFluid, electrolyte, (re)hydration requirements and solutionsTotal energy, protein, carbohydrate and fat requirementsFuel (nutrition) timing in training and competitionVitamin and mineral requirementsMeal, snack, menu planningSupplements: efficacy, safety, ethics, legalityAnthropometrics and body compositionGroup/public speaking, presentations, briefs, and cooking demos
