My position started as executive director of a private family foundation called Hope Builders Foundation in 2000. I later spearheaded the merging of this entity into Louisville Christian Foundation (LCF) in late 2002; this allowed us to involved more people in strategic philanthropy and have a bigger community impact. I served as president/CEO of the new foundation for another four years. This was great experience in personally helping high net worth individuals with philanthropic planning, transforming non-liquid assets into cash for distribution to over 100 charities across the U.S. and abroad. LCF was a local affiliate of The National Christian Foundation, with over $1 billion in assets (LCF has since merged with the Kentucky Christian Foundation). With the help of our board and an extensive network of legal and financial advisers, I grew local foundation assets from $300,000 to $6 million, including over 50 donor advised accounts. I worked with these high net worth clients and their legal/financial advisers in liquidating complex assets such as real estate, closely held stocks, private business interests and personal property. Hosted numerous continuing education seminars for professional advisers; co-founded local chapter of professional adviser association. Supervised office staff; recruited and trained 14-member board of directors; managed all finance, technology, marketing and operations. Worked closely with executive committee, board and community organizations. Show less
