Clementine Norton played a primary role in mentoring my respect for regional communities and the importance they play in the economy. The attitudes and methodologies she taught me directly influenced my path to Online News Editor on NRM's central online team and the success that team enjoyed. Clementine is a rare personality in her ability to achieve organisational and community outcomes through strategies not yet written into the textbooks. Her uptake of technology into the journalistic workflow was measured yet profound, forming part of the spine of the group's overall approach. NRM suffered a great loss on her leaving. Any organisation in need of an agile and thorough investigator with the ability to understand community dynamics would benefit from putting Clementine in a central role. From community outreach to business intelligence, her skills and mindset provide fertile ground for organisational success and the growth of colleagues around her. I have only the best wishes for Clementine in her current and future roles and applaud the foresight and wisdom of her employers.

It is a wonderful thing to have a 2IC who wants your job (and therefore excels) but is unflinchingly loyal. It was my great privilege as editor and news director of the Fraser Coast Chronicle to have had Clementine as my deputy. Her excellent editorial judgment and local knowledge were matched by her passion for the paper and her work ethic. She is now editor, and I could not wish for a better person to run my favourite newspaper.
