  Launched by the EU as part of the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) focuses on implementing the circular economy across Europe’s cities and regions. Tampere Region was chosen as one of the pilots and with the support of CCRI-CSO will have the possibility to increase synergies among future projects and initiatives, disseminate and get relevant knowledge, and get greater visibility to best practices in EU.Following the 2021 government resolution on the Strategic Programme for Circular Economy, the national Green Deal process (2022-2023) will be implemented through regional scenario work led by research institutes (SYKE, GTK, LUKE, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Statistics Finland) on the basis of circular economy material flow analysis and under the leadership of the environment and economic affairs and development ministries to define rules and criteria for the Green Deal on circular economy.In Tampere Region, the Regional Council of Pirkanmaa, Tampere city, Business Tampere, Pirkanmaan jätehuolto Oy, Verte Ltd and the University of Tampere are collectively committed to participating in the scenario and framing work of the Green deal.
