Elected President of the largest active Society at Oxford University and largest LGBTQ+ Society in the UK.Under my leadership, the Society won the National Student Pride 'Outstanding LGBT+ Society of the Year' Award 2022.Steered the Society through the pandemic and adapted its welfare and social functions in response; organised large scale in-person and online events, including speaker events with prominent LGBTQ+ figures such as Justice Edwin Cameron, Dr Clara Barker and Christine Burns.Produced a report outlining policy change recommendations for the University Council and Conference of Colleges regarding the protection of marginalised students’ welfare. This entailed collaboration with Stonewall, and comments on the issue were featured in The Times and Gal-Dem.Organised protests, petitions and mobilised action on prominent issues affecting both the Oxford and international LGBTQ+ community, including but not limited to combatting the rise of spiking cases at Oxford venues, the banning of conversion therapy, and the repeal of same-sex marriage laws in the Cayman Islands. In tandem to this, we raised over £1,000 for Colours Caribbean, the main grass-roots charity in the Cayman Islands that provides support and raises awareness for LGBTQ+ issues. Show less

    • Vice President, Brasenose Ball 2022
      • May 2020 - Feb 2022

Brasenose College Ball is a biannual event attended by 1,200 guests and boasts a £110,000 budget; for 2022, our theme was Descent, a Journey into the Underworld. As Vice President, I was responsible for the organisation and management of the Ball with a particular focus on external aspects. I directly oversaw the logistics, production and entertainment of the event and following the resignation of our two fun and games officers, took complete responsibility for all aspects of the event related to this on top of my executive position. The role further entailed coordinating a committee of 20 individuals and over 30 suppliers who were on site on the night. Show less

    • LGBTQ+ Officer
      • Jan 2020 - Jan 2021

In this role I acted as a representative for Brasenose’s LGBTQ+ community - organising events within college, acting as a source of support and assistance for the community, and bringing student opinion to College administration. During my time as Representative, I lobbied College on LGBTQ+ and intersectionality issues, and succeeded in introducing a free supply of alternative sexual health provisions and a gender expression fund for members of the JCR. I also produced a LGBTQ+ resources booklet for JCR members that provides information on both College and University wide schemes, funds and support for LGBTQ+ people. Show less

Led an LGBTQ+ sensitivity and awareness workshop for University Freshers with the aim of improving understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and issues, and promoting an inclusive and accepting atmosphere.

    • Policy Paper Researcher
      • Aug 2021 - Oct 2021

I was commissioned by the Ozanne Foundation to research and compile a first policy paper draft on legislating against conversion therapy, a practice known to cause significant psychological harm to its victims that contributes to the continuum of violence and stigma faced by LGBT+ people. The 'Cooper Report' outlines a two-pronged approach that uses both the criminal and civil law to provide immediate protection to those most at risk, as well as post-facto prosecution of practices. It also outlines why banning all forms of conversion therapy, be they cultural, medical or religious, is compliant with and is warranted under the European Convention of Human Rights, as religious freedom and freedom of expression can be limited where the acts involved risk causing significant harm. I worked on this project alongside representatives of Stonewall, Galop, Mermaids and other notable national LGBTQ+ Organisations and charities to ensure that the report was comprehensive and considered all perspectives. In addition to collaborations with renowned human rights lawyers such as Baroness Helena Kennedy QC, Robin Allen QC, and of course Jonathan Cooper OBE who supervised the research and guided us with his extensive and detailed knowledge. It was during the final stages of this project that we unexpectedly lost Jonathan. He was the fiercest defender of LGBTQ+ rights, and without his tireless dedication this report wouldn’t exist. Working with him over the past year was an absolute honour and I am proud to be able to call him both a mentor and a friend. Show less

The main role of a lifeguard is to uphold the highest standards of safety at all times within a venue. Good teamwork and communication skills are vital, especially with an operation of upwards of 25 lifeguards on duty at a time. The ability to remain calm under pressure is equally as essential; Splash Waterworld at Skegness has a capacity of ~1,200 and every guest in the venue deserves the same high quality service delivery. Weekly training and development sessions are required, in line with NPLQ fitness and syllabus requirements, to maintain professional competency at its highest possible level. Show less
