Having worked with Claudia, I have to say it was always a positive experience. As a manager she is able to find the balance between being a fun and approachable person as well as being attentive and organised. I felt that my work was appreciated and she noticed all of my achievements no matter how small compared to the bigger projects. Not only was I treated as a valued member of the team but I was constantly encouraged by Claudia to always strive to achieve more. During my job change, she was incredibly supportive and sympathetic; something I definitely needed at the time. Outside of work tasks, she has made me feel so much more confident about my academic and professional successes and gave my opportunities to strengthen my CV. Claudia has certainly been a wonderful manager.

Claudia was an excellent line manager to have. She always challenged all the teachers in the team, being attentive to the unique needs of each one of us. Her experience in working with young learners helped me deal with different situations in the best way, and her advice was always invaluable. She taught me a lot about how to work with young people and helped me transition from the position of teacher to coordinator. Her passion and enthusiasm in the working environment are contagious, she is an incredible person and professional.

The nia project is a charity for women and children who have experienced male violence. My role involved working with young women aged 12-25 as part of a new Big Lottery funded programme called Safe Choices. To be referred, young women had to be at risk or experiencing sexual/domestic violence or gang association. Most young women were also completely disengaged with support services e.g. school, CAMHS, social services. Engaging these young women was a challenge; with their history and experience of trauma and mistrust of services which may criminalise them before recognising their experience of exploitation. My key achievements and duties were: • Established the ‘Safe Choices’ programme in Hackney youth services, building a professional network for referrals and delivering 1:1 interventions for high risk young women. • Established preventative programmes in schools and youth clubs in Hackney delivering 6-week workshops about violence against women, gangs and relationships. • Delivering training to professionals.
