Colonel Claude H. Davis was a superior supervisor and fellow instructor while at Summerville High School. He cares deeply for other people and was sought out by our students for guidance and advice on a possible military career, college options, preparing for college, and often for personal advice. The five years I spent working with Colonel Davis were incredibly productive for us both and especially for our NJROTC Unit and cadets. There are many students who have gone on to successful careers in the military, both as officers and highly skilled enlisted personnel. There are many who through Colonel Davis's encouragement became the first in their family to graduate from high school and the first to go to college. He is a difference maker! Finally, Colonel Davis exhibits tremendous patience with young peole, never forgetting that the mission of the NJROTC Program is to develop outstanding citizens. He places his trust and confidence in them and guides them while allowing for them to try out their ideas and carry out their plans. He teaches kids how to think, instead of what to think.

Claude Davis is one of the most honorable men I know. I have observed his generous nature and true caring spirit in working with students of all ages regardless of their affiliation or lacke thereof with his JROTC program. He puts more time and effort into counseling and encouraging students to pursue higher education and provides whatever assistance they may need to pursue their dreams. Claude is a fine man, true role model and excellent mentor. A tribute to the uniform he wears and the country he represents. He has my highest admiration, respect and recommendations.

I was responsible for the mentoring and leadership of all cadets while transforming a good unit into an exceptional unit that is one of the best in the nation. My proudest accomplishment was the fact all cadets who graduated while I was there went on to be tremendous citizens.
