The Asylum Clinic KC offers free legal consultations to anyone referred to us through one of our many partner organizations, both locally and nationwide. We prioritize offering representation to unaccompanied minors who are released from Office of Refugee Resettlement shelters around the country to sponsors in the Kansas City area. These children, although in removal proceedings, are often eligible to apply for asylum with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and they may also be eligible for Special Immigrant Juvenile status (for minors who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected). Since our founding, our clinic has provided legal consultations to over 105 individuals.

I manage the firm's subcontract with the Vera Institute of Justice to serve unaccompanied minors detained in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement. I oversee all aspects of the children's program, including provision of Know Your Rights presentations, legal screenings, initiation of direct representation when required. I provide consultations and also often represent children released to the Kansas City area from ORR shelters across the US. I am also developing a nonprofit organization within our law firm called the Asylum Clinic KC. The Asylum Clinic seeks to orient asylum seekers to the removal process, analyze their cases for any legal relief from removal, and represent them in their cases in front of the KC Immigration Court or US Citizenship and Immigration Services, depending on capacity. The Asylum Clinic also assists with changes of venue and change of address filings with the Immigration Court, and assists with work permit applications and renewals. I am licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas.
