I had the pleasure of meeting Claire in the spring of 2019 when I joined the parade krewe she founded, the Red Hot Dancing Queens. After seeing the group perform at local parades and expressing interest, I was invited to participate in a practice. I was initially impressed with the structure and focus of the practices as well as the welcoming kindness Claire displayed. It was hard work, but it was fun work. I joined immediately. During the following months I observed Claire's innovative leadership of the diverse group of individuals. She led us with humor and compassion. She actively listened to each of our thoughts, ideas, and plans, nurturing those that would bear fruit, diplomatically deferring those not quite right for our group. Her joyful, positive, and professional communication with us was foundational in the camaraderie we enjoyed and the local and regional success we achieved. Through Claire's tireless efforts to build community relationships and foster good will as well as her keen marketing of the group, were invited to parade in New Orleans LA through Claire’s connections and standards to be parade ready for 7 miles, over 4 hours; and, St. Louis MO and Louisville KY in addition to our local parades. And with her focus on goal setting and management of each project, we won awards wherever we went! Claire makes space for everyone. She is the most kind, inclusive, professional leader I have met in both my personal and professional endeavors. She nurtures the talent in each person she meets and inspires us to strive to be our best version of ourselves. Moreover, she inspired me to be the best team member possible with gentle reminders and leading by example. Being part of the RHDQ, it became apparent that the strength of the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Observing Claire as our leader made me appreciate the focus, strategic planning and discipline that is instrumental in running a parade krewe. It also became obvious to me that her thoughtful and articulate communication, her insistence on constructive and respectful dialogue and her genuine care for and kindness to other people inspired us all and resulted in successful recruitment and retention of members. She embodies the spirit of a genuine Transformational leader.

I initially met Claire following her family’s relocation to Cincinnati. We were members of the same sports club and often found ourselves attending the same classes. Not long after we met, Claire mentioned her idea of forming a New Orleans style dance Krewe in Cincinnati to a few people and quickly found a group of women eager to participate. I was among one of the first to say yes and in 2015, thanks to Claire, the Red Hot Dancing Queens were born. From day one this group has focused on being a fun, diverse and unique group dedicated to serving the community not only by dancing in parades, but also volunteering when we can to support various community events. Over the past three years I have watched the RHDQ grow and thrive under Claire’s excellent leadership and organizational skills. Claire has worked to ensure the RHDQ has a board, dance leaders and rehearsal leaders all in place to support the successful and continued operation of the RHDQ. In addition to setting up leaders within the organization, Claire has also dedicated an overwhelming amount of time to the management and success of the RHDQ. As with any non-profit organization there is often much work to do, but finding the time/resources/people to do the work can present its challenges. Claire never lets these challenges dissuade her, or even slow her down. When needed, Claire has worked on governing and administrative documents, budgeting, dance formations, music selection, dance creation etc. When there is a need, Claire is willing to give 150% to make sure the task is completed, because she understands the importance of the RHDQ to the community it serves. I often tell Claire that she is a PR and marketing genius. She sees opportunities to promote the RHDQ to the public through outreach activities in ways I would never imagine. The RHDQ truly do benefit from Claire’s extensive marketing and public relations experience. Without a doubt there is no way the RHDQ would be as well-known as they are today if it were not for Claire. Since 2015 the RHDQ have grown in both size and diversity, a clear testament to Claire’s excellent leadership and marketing skills. When the community sees what a wonderful organization she has established and successfully led, it inspires others to come and join.
