As the lead for the Stop MS Appeal Board I am leading on the strategy and delivery of the High-Value aspect of the £100m campaign. Having worked on the Appeal since shortly after the launch of the discreet phase I have worked with colleagues to secure more than half of the total needed. I lead a team of eight to develop excellent donor relationships through philanthropy and our special events programme with the excellent support of our prospect research team. Developing peer to peer relationships to engage potential supporters in the exciting work taking place in MS research has been instrumental in the fundraising so far. We have delivered sector leading special events to bring new people to the MS Society and build our donor base. These include La traviata at Opera Holland Park, 'SMS Battles' celebrity quiz, Christmas Concerts at St Paul's Cathedral and Tribute Concerts celebrating the life of Jacqueline du Pre (£1m net profit). We raise money to support our services for people living with and affected by MS as well as for vital MS research through the Stop MS Appeal.

As a member of the committee I was involved in agreeing the direction of the SIG, considering the key current issues for this area of fundraising. Using this insight we have developed a programme of events and a report to support fundraisers to develop their skills and improve the quality of such approaches and donor experience. My specific role was to manage our pages on the Institute of Fundraising website. Working with the Director of Fundraising, as the only other team member for one day a week, I worked on all areas of income generation. This including charitable trusts (up to 6 figs), major donors, events, legacies and gift aid. I also was responsible for installing the Raiser's Edge database and working with the team working towards having one database suitable for membership and fundraising. I worked alongside the Chief Executive, President, Treasurer and College members to develop the fundraising programme and unlock potential peer-to-peer introductions.

As Development Manager in this role I led on major donor fundraising which included working with the Appeal Board. This was a cross-charity opportunity which included managing events directly and selling tables and securing auction prizes for our special events team. I worked with donors on charitable trust applications and supported corporate support too.Working with existing donors I initiated a culture of peer-to-peer asking with those who were not in a formalised fundraising role. I managed the President's Club offering opportunities for them to continue to support the charity in a way most suitable to them and provided a stewardship programme to keep them updated on the difference they had and continued to make for people with muscle wasting conditions. Through relationships with supporters we secured places at the BGC charity day in September 2014 with Sir Alex Ferguson and Roy Hodgson as our celebrity representatives. On the day I acted as celebrity liaison. In this role I line managed one member of staff.
