Understanding the triggers to challenging behaviour is essential for many staff to carry out their day to day duties safely.Dignity and safety are paramount to quality care and UniSAFE programmes include a series of training provisions to ensure that management and practitioners can fulfil their responsibilities to the highest standards. UniSAFE training provision is offered throughout a large range of adult and children’s services including residential care homes, adult community services and educational settings. Through a modular system of training, the UniSAFE teams provide meaningful and focused guidance to help people make appropriate choices when managing difficult behaviours to help reduce the risk of harm to everyone involved. Although it addresses personal safety training and physical intervention strategies, the programme also keeps employees and management informed of their rights and responsibilities to help them feel more confident in their approach to dealing with situations. SchoolSAFE comes under the UniSAFE umbrella and provides training for staff based within an educational setting. As with the Unisafe training the focus is on de-escalation and intervention at an early stage to reduce the need for restrictive practices. It is underpinned by a clear articulation and understanding of behavioural theory, law and best practice. Show less
