Reporting to the General Counsel, my role at Lonely Planet involved drafting and negotiating commercial contracts including content licensing, services procurement, global and local book distribution, consumer and publishing contracts. A key responsibility was managing Lonely Planet's extensive global trademark portfolio, working closely with external counsel on general portfolio maintenance as well as trademark litigations and also overseeing the internal infringements team. In my time at Lonely Planet, I worked with the business to overhaul the contracting process for business development and advertising deals. To this end I was able to revise a lengthy contract into a much more usable, and commercially appropriate, four pages of terms. I also worked closely with the Asia Sales team to negotiate major distribution deals, assisted the content team to get the new content model established from a legal perspective and I was the legal contact person for all Lonely Planet marketing activities - assisting Lonely Planet teams to deliver campaigns and promotions to our audiences worldwide. I left Lonely Planet to move to Switzerland with my family. Show less
