Bossy is the Australian National University’s Women's Department's autonomous publication (try saying that five times fast out loud), which functions across online and print platforms. Bossy is managed by undergraduate students, and accepts contributions from women, non-binary, or otherwise genderqueer ANU staff, students, and alumni. My role as Senior Content Sub-Editor in 2020 involved:• Management: Evaluated applications from prospective Sub-Editors and allocated them to various article forms within the magazine according to their strengths (e.g. Opinion, Memoir). Successfully pitched marketing ideas to expand Bossy’s visibility; including a collaboration with ANU’s campus radio station, stickers, and new slogans.• Initiative: Sourced relevant articles for the online and print magazines, e.g. a review of ANU’s Sexual Violence Prevention Strategy, trend-specific pieces for immediate online publication.• Organisation: Aided the Content Editor with administrative tasks and meetings, consistently communicated with sub-editors and ensuring that their weekly goals were met, attended editorial team meetings (including virtual Zoom meetings), and read draft pieces to evaluate their potential. Established a number of time-sensitive goals for the content team which pertained to Bossy’s upcoming print edition. • Editing: Proofread content sourced by Sub-Editors, and managed writing, editing, and fact-checking. This required an awareness of grammar, punctuation, and creative flow. Editing is an extremely collaborative process, which necessitated regular liaising with each Sub-Editor and contributor to discuss the direction and vision for each piece.• Assistance with Print Production: Aided the Editorial team in establishing a theme for the sixth edition of the magazine (Pleasure and Danger). Selected submissions which aligned with this theme, and contributed to design work.

Cryptologist and Guest Services Attendant. As a Cryptologist - or Escape Room Host - I undertook the following tasks:• Specialised Training: One of three team members who was personally selected from 84 employees to be transported to Sydney for overnight paid training, two months after the venue opened. Escape room training is predominantly viewed as a reward for high achievement in the company.• Procedure Development: Individually tasked with writing chronological instructions for the completion of each room, as well as directions for employees regarding ‘resetting’ the puzzles in the rooms. Wrote clues for each ‘step’ of the puzzles in the rooms, which would be relayed to guests in the event of any difficulties. Multiple clues were designed in order to cater to various comprehension levels.• Leadership: Trained several co-workers to run the rooms.
