As a CMA in UAB Urgent Care, I am responsible for triaging patients as they arrive, taking vital signs and getting medical history. I perform a variety of injections with a physician order using all methods of administration. I administer oral medications as well. I collect any specimen swabs as needed, such as rapid and PCR COVID swabs, flu, strep, and STIs. I assist with procedures or cleaning up/bandaging patients as needed. I perform venipuncture as needed. I answer incoming messages from patients regarding medications, pharmacies, care clarification, or results. I stock and prepare exam rooms daily.
