Lead Pharmacy Technician This is a growing, family owned, independent pharmacy at which I currently work. My store is the smallest of our 8 locations, however, we still provide for many patients on a daily/weekly basis. While here, I’ve been able to create and maintain innumerable pharmacy/patient relationships. It makes patients feel extremely special when you’re able to call them by name when they walk in the door. I’ve also been able to create the same valuable relationships with local doctors/nurses, as well as pharmaceutical reps that call on us regularly. As lead technician, I, along with the pharmacist, ensure that the workflow runs smoothly, and try to delegate smaller tasks when needed. When things seem to get busier than usual, I’m usually able to develop a good systems perspective, and ensure that everyone is doing the right task at the right time. We have a multi-line phone system and a drive-thru, so multi-tasking is critical. I assist in the reorder and restock of prescription and OTC inventory and return unnecessary stock to our wholesaler when needed. Because we are an independent pharmacy, keeping up with how much inventory is on our shelf is key, so I’m constantly ensuring that we don’t have too much of one item or just one really expensive item not being dispensed. I ensure all vaccination paperwork is properly filled out and signed by each patient. And as with all medications, I ensure that each insurance company is properly billed. I like to ensure that each area of the pharmacy looks presentable, not only to me, but to the patients visiting our store, whether it be a piece of paper on the floor, or trash in the parking lot. I may not own this company, but when patients walk through the door, I’m one of the faces they see; therefore, I’m going to be the one they look to when they have an issue. They’re going to be looking for someone who is trustworthy, reliable, courteous, and dependable and it’s up to me to ensure they find just that. Show less

During my time here, I not only worked as a CPhT, I was also my District Manager's assistant 2+ days each week, working out of the office (and while at my store most days). Helping him ensure day to day tasks were completed by each pharmacy and vision center in our district, along with performing my regular duties as a CPhT in my store, were nothing short of a miracle most days; however I embraced each day and loved the challenge. This also allowed me to become involved in the American Diabetes Association’s Annual Tour de Cure, a bike ride that helps raise funds and awareness about Diabetes. I became part of the planning committee and assisted in the yearly preparation for this amazing annual event. I feel that the opportunity to work alongside my district manager, regardless of the capacity, and continue my role as a CPhT, gave me the chance to utilize both my Business and Pharmacy Technician Degrees that I worked so hard for. In my role as a CPhT specifically, not only did I handle the typical technician tasks and duties, I also performed additional assignments, such as, assisted in training of new Technicians and Pharmacists, maintained proper inventory control, maintained a good rapport with Pharmaceutical Reps, excelled in customer service, and traveled to other stores throughout the state to assist in reorganization and training, just to name a few. I worked here part-time (24-30 hrs/wk) in addition to my full-time CPhT job at Wal-Mart. I not only waited tables, but I also served the food, ensured customer’s needs were met in a timely manner, maintained cleanliness of areas, washed dishes when needed, vacuumed floors, assisted weekly bands that played for entertainment, took phone orders, tendered orders through the register, and so much more.

This was definitely my "fun" job, and a "labor of love." I showed up on site during home football games 5 hours before game time to set up tables and racks to prepare for sales of SC Gamecock Merchandise. I stayed on site, sold merchandise, and attended to all customer needs leading up to game time. I packed up all racks, tables and merchandise at the end of the day and assisted in advertising and sales via social media. This was definitely my "fun" job, and a "labor of love." While in this position, I not only developed customer’s film, I also edited photos when needed, ordered supplies, changed out various equipment chemicals, assisted customers, answered a multi-line phone system, and trained new associates. I worked in this position a little less than 2 years, before transferring to the pharmacy. After school, I was fortunate to be able to work for this small family owned company. On one side it was a jewelry store, and on the other, it was a music store. I was mainly the cashier for them, however, I enjoyed still being able to just work. After school, I was fortunate to be able to work for this small family owned company. During my Senior Year of High School, I gave violin lessons to elementary and middle school students who wanted/needed additional help outside of the classroom. It was an amazing opportunity to be able to mentor the younger kids. Within six months of turning 16, I persistently kept following up on an application I had submitted to this company. It paid off and I was hired within three days. Since I was so young, and still in high school, I was legally only allowed to work so many hours, but it was a great first job.
