Chris is the type of person who innately never settles for less. He was finishing his last semester of college in the midst of a global pandemic when he joined my company as a level designer. By the end of the games development he had saved the game twice. Once during a blizzard in Chicago where he still got to the booth and presented our game during the Night City event. The other towards the end of the games development when most people on the team had checked out he kept going. Chris was determined to make the game great because he never let himself take the easy way out. He persevered, problem solved, and stuck with us from start to finish. The games production would not have been the same without Chris.

I had the pleasure of working with Chris for two years as an associate writer and level designer on our game, Origin Unknown. During production, Chris would always excel in his areas and strive to improve other disciplines of the game. His contributions as a writer and designer, as well as his improvements to our gameplay and questing systems, not only helped the game release on time, but also turned something good into something great! Chris is an amazingly talented worker, and I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a team member that wants to get the job done!

As a Level Designer I create the overall, and final layout for the levels that the players get to explore and interact with. This is done by analyzing the overall theme, gameplay elements, and narrative of the games design. The overall design not only encompasses elements like theme accuracy, gameplay mechanics, and narrative beats. But as a Level designer I also communicate with multiple departments; taking into consideration things like artistic liberty from environmental artists, overall game performance from programmers, and much more. Creation of the level then takes all of these atributes and then turned into a level blueprint, that then becomes a 3D blockout, which becomes the placement of finalized assets and modular environmental kits. As a Game Designer I take all of the levels that have been made and add in the playability and interaction that the player gets to experience. From programming box collision audio triggers, sequencer events, and assigning values to gameplay elements like player health or damage. I also make sure the player is aware of what they have to do in a way that does not break immersion or detract from whatever gameplay or narrative flow that they are meant to experience. Show less
