I formed my firm, Christopher T. L. Brown, Attorney at Law, PLLC, in 2009 with the vision to provide my clients with personalized service and experienced legal guidance. Based out of Olympia, Washington and firmly rooted in the Pacific Northwest, my primary areas of legal practice include federal, state and international tax law, business formation and transactional law, complex estate planning, real estate law, intellectual property and securities law. With a J.D. and a Masters Degree in Tax Law, I bring eighteen years of legal experience in Washington and Oregon working with small to medium-sized businesses as well as high and ultra-net worth individuals. My career has given me extensive tax and legal expertise from forming start-up companies, negotiating contracts for private and publicly-traded enterprises, and passing family businesses from generation to generation to preserve their legacies.Conversant in Japanese, I have represented a large number of clients involving international issues including foreign nationals investing in United States real estate, American citizens doing business in Canada, Asia, South America and Europe, and estate planning involving American and foreign families.I endeavor to keep my areas of practice narrow so that I can focus on issues concerning business owners. For example, I don't work in the fields of personal bankruptcy, family law or employment law in the context of wrongful terminations. Instead of being a generalist, I engage with clients with the sole purpose of helping them succeed in their enterprises, protecting their creations (whether tangible or intangible) from external influences, and handing down their life's work to their descendants. My goal is not to have a law firm where my engagements are simply "one-and-done" transactions but rather to be a valuable and lifelong resource for my clients and their families.

Prepared simple and complex estate plans, including Wills, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Healthcare Directives. Set-up corporations and limited liability companies for small business owners for asset protection and legacy planning. Created limited liability companies for estate planning purposes to allow real estate held by a patriarch or matriarch to pass to his or her descendants as a whole without dividing it into easily-transferable tenancy-in-common interests and to benefit from reductions in estate and gift tax valuations.Analyzed then-current federal and international tax laws to develop complex estate and business systems.Worked with private property owners and land trusts to conserve undeveloped real estate through the use of conservation easements.
