San Antonio de Lomerio, Santa Cruz, Bolivia I lived and worked in rural municipality of San Antonio de Lomerio, Santa Cruz Bolivia, where I directed construction efforts and facilitated training on the operation of 14 ecological latrines in collaboration with the Non-governmental organization Green Cross Bolivia. • Initiated, and operated a water club addressing issues of water sanitation and health and conducted workshops to train 5 masons, 40 construction workers and 17 families in rainwater tank construction and maintenance. •… Show more I lived and worked in rural municipality of San Antonio de Lomerio, Santa Cruz Bolivia, where I directed construction efforts and facilitated training on the operation of 14 ecological latrines in collaboration with the Non-governmental organization Green Cross Bolivia. • Initiated, and operated a water club addressing issues of water sanitation and health and conducted workshops to train 5 masons, 40 construction workers and 17 families in rainwater tank construction and maintenance. • Worked in partnership with neighboring volunteers to train families in the construction of two gray water garden systems. • Successfully initiated, planned and operated a water club that addressed the issues of water sanitation and health within the municipality of San Antonio de Lomerío. Subsequently designed, wrote, budgeted and implemented a grant project requesting partial funding for the construction of 19 rainwater catchment tanks in the towns of Asunta, San Pedro, San Martin and San Antonio. Conducted several workshops to train and certify 5 masons and 40 construction assistants in rainwater tank construction. Also trained the 19 families that had been selected to receive these tanks in their operation and maintenance to ensure the sustainability of the project and promote future interest. The project increased the amount of drinkable water in San Antonio de Lomerío by 190,000 liters. • Collaborated with an Integrated Education PCV in a project that educated 200 middle and high school students in the dangers of improperly disposing of batteries. Held a used battery drive in the high school where the students fully funded the cost of materials and labor to construct a battery deposit. They collected over 3,500 used batteries, which no longer posed a danger of contamination to the limited available drinking water in El Puquio.
