Chris showed exceptional ability, both as a Team Leader and as an Engineer, performing complex electromechanical integrations with utmost thoughtfulness into all aspects of their design despite a tight and unforgiving timeline. He has my highest recommendation and is fantastic value.

At the conclusion of my degree at Swinburne University I reached out to Bask Aerospace, initially a contact during the writing of my thesis, and came on board shortly thereafter. Having grown up with a passion and a history in the agricultural and farming industry, the direction of Bask Aerospace aligned immediately with my sought after career path, targeting the development of drone solutions for the modern agricultural industry. The term "solution" is used very deliberately as each product is sold on the basis of understanding the customers needs and what they are trying to achieve, rather than selling to make sales. Primarily I am responsible for the design of the mechanical systems for the new Smart Hanger technology. The Smart Hanger targets the introduction of autonomous MR4 drones in remote locations in the agricultural and horticultural industries, but has scope extending into the construction and mining industries. At Bask Aerospace we focus on developing tools that can provide a solution to a problem. All you have to do is let us know your particular problem.

Each contracted terms runs from November through till April. Having completed one season already and well into my second season as a PFF with Melbourne Water I have and worked in the beautiful catchments that provide Melbourne with some of the finest drinking water. From track and tree clearing to and civil maintenance and joint ventures with DEWLP and Parks Victoria, I am yet to find any other workplace that has such a diversity of work and diversity of skills that one can take on and develop.

I joined the team at Power Equipment as a change from my time in retail and after graduating from Swinburne University with the aim of gaining hands on experience with modern diesel engines. Being trained by the team onsite and taking the opportunity to apply my engineering skills for design and troubleshooting whenever it occurs, I have developed a far deeper understanding than I expected in such a short period of time. Now comfortable in the role, I am part of the workshop team, assembling bespoke power packages for the industrial and marine industries alike. With the introduction of John Deere to line up alongside the already proven Yanmar series we continue to grow from strength to strength. The team has a clear focus on providing a quality and reliable product to every end user. It is this clear focus that has made it particularly easy to come on board and feel comfortable with in the team at Power Equipment.

Continuing my development through my Bunnings career, I have taken the next step by applying all I have learnt over the last nine years in my new role as Duty Coordinator (Duty Manager in other industries). Joining the existing leadership team at the Chadstone store I am presented with a new set of skills that I must learn and develop, whilst also assisting the team to develop and work together to provide the best we can for the customer. I light of my work in the Goods Inwards receiving yeards at both Mill Park and Chadstone stores I have also moved into the position of Forklift coach, to further develop the training depth within the team and pass on my experience to produce safe and confident drivers. Training the team in a one on one environment has great success as each new driver is given the dedicated time to work on their individual driving habits through direct feedback and examples of driving so that they have a understanding of how each process/manoeuvre is meant to be completed and what they are trying to achieve.

    • Sales Assistant

Commencing my work with Bunnings in 2008 as a casual in the lead up to Christmas, I quickly moved to a secure part time position in the Electrical and Tools divisions. The atmosphere of the work is what captivated me to stay with the company as long as I have. From being trained one on one from the existing team right through to the public events and team outings, the Bunnings way of life is a great way to start your working career. Taking opportunities when they arose I have been able to move around the various departments in the stores and have even been involved with opening an entirely new store in Chadstone. Taking my experience from my time at the Mill Park store and sharing it with the new team at Chadstone meant continuing that transition of knowledge between the team, the same way as when I was being trained myself.

    • Team Leader
      • Jan 2016 - Dec 2016

A peer elected position targeted at overseeing the development and construction of team Swinburne's 2016 electric Formula SAE vehicle. Working with over thirty other engineering students, we were able to produce a multi award winning vehicle, placing 3rd in the EV division and 6th over all. Seeing the strong development taken by the team each year is as encouraging sign and something every team member is proud to be a part of. During my time at Advantage Feeders my role as Product Technician included the duties of product assembly and repairs, parts ordering and distribution as well as various deign projects primarily using sheet metal and SHS materials. My greatest achievement while working with the team at Advantage Feeders was the introduction of new software for the design of user manuals and packaging instructions. This implementation benefited both Advantage Feeders and the end customer greatly.
