Operated and maintained four Colt Peilstick 16-cylinder main propulsion diesel engines; troubleshooting fuel systems, braking systems, hydraulic systems, even replacing a complete cylinder head and pistons on a 6.7 Cummins diesel engine. ➜ Led a team of four in a time critical repair on NR2 Reverse Osmosis unit when it had catastrophic crankshaft failure, dropping the ship down to roughly 33% water making capability. ➜ Guided four personnel during an intense and stressful diesel engine inspection resulting in a successful 96% passing grade. ➜ Diagnosed and repaired a knocking complaint from the customer on a freightliner dump truck; replacing two bent push rods and two busted valve springs and bringing the Cummins engine back to life. ➜ Developed keen technical knowledge to replace failed cylinder heads on one of the main propulsion diesel engines resulting in the ship completing its mission. ➜ Utilized an effective Risk Management process to identify and analyze risk while developing mitigation measures that decreased the likelihood of accidents or safety incidents during operation.
