The primary focus of this lab was to look into the Kd measurement of proteins in different pathways while utilizing the F.R.E.T. technology. Not only was I being exposed to the laboratory environment, I was also able to learn a variety of protein laboratory techniques such as protein purification, Gel electrophoresis, and even transformation. During my senior year, I was able to utilize these techniques and with a group, develop a new imaging technique to interpret FRET data to obtain a Kd measurement. These techniques are in the right direction for developing a high throughput screening device for drug discovery. Show less

SI sessions are weekly lessons that help students who want the extra help in difficult subjects. After attending the lectures, I would sit down with the professor to discuss the topics that they wanted to be emphasized along with a weekly report on the progress of their students. Each week I would create a lesson plan that is tailored toward the student's need. Through lectures and group activities, I was able to effectively create an atmosphere that was both beneficial and engaging for the students. Show less
