At United Dairy Farmers, we're more than just a gas station or convenience store. UDF is more of a community spot where friends and family come to enjoy a little personal touch to their daily errands. During the day customers from all over Hyde Park and Mt. Lookout can be found in our little store to enjoy one of the many Ice Cream confections that we make here at UDF. From a milkshake to a Turtle Sundae, kids and adults alike smile in anticipation and delight when we hand them a cold treat from our DipSide ice cream station. Working at UDF is a delightful and rewarding experience. It is one of the very few jobs I have worked out where you get to see that ever-so-rare quality in your customers and clients: the smile of satisfaction. Each day I go home with the knowledge that I have done well by my customers and community and know that when I go back in to my little shop, I'll get to see them again and put a few more smiles on some other faces. As a Marine, I started out in California after all my training was completed, as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, or "Airframer" on attack helicopters. I have been deployed three times over seas to the Al Anbar Province in Iraq on two separate operations; and two more deployments to the Helmand Province in Afghanistan. My responsibilities outside of the general Marine Corps stigma were maintaining and repairing AH-1W/Z Cobra Attack Helicopters, and UH-1N/Y Light Helicopters. My responsibilities outside of the general Marine Corps stigma were maintaining and repairing AH-1W/Z Cobra Attack Helicopters, and UH-1N/Y Light Helicopters. I was a leader in my unit, HMLA-369 "Gunfighters" and was put in charge of several projects, movements, and big jobs. Part of my job was maintaining training records for all the personnel in my shop, both on paper and electronically. I also moved all of the shop assets and properties too and from countries for all three deployments. I was assigned the billet of Collateral Duty Inspector, where I was held personally and professionally responsible for millions of dollars of tools, equipment, and aircraft. Work that was completed had to be inspected completely and thoroughly by a CDI, and was not considered complete unless signed off by me. There were other CDI's in the shop, all my peers, and I had earned the respect of everyone around me. I carried out my duties with good judgment, fairness, and completed jobs in a safe-timely manner. I held the rank of Corporal for three years until I was promoted to Sergeant at the end of my extended enlistment. I qualified as an expert rifleman three years in a row, combat water swimmer, and a green belt in Marine Corps Martial Arts.
