Christopher is an extremely adept avionics technician. His knowledge of system components and troubleshooting abilities are second to none. I often times sought out Chris when I was experiencing an avionics malfunction on an aircraft. His calm, collected demeanor allowed him to think through complicated gripes to produce brilliant solutions.

To accomplish this task, a director needs to: Interpret the script Cast the production Collaborate with designers Plan the rehearsals Guide the actors in their work during rehearsals. The director’s work is most often based on a detailed study and analysis of the script to be produced. Many careful readings of the script help the director develop an individual vision of the playwright’s intentions, which will form the core of his or her interpretation. This sense of “what the play is really about” will shape a director’s thinking about every other aspect of the production. Directors also study the characters in the script, gathering as much information as they can about their physical and psychological traits. This is vital preparation for casting, when the actors who are best able to bring the characters to life in performance need to be chosen. Theater directors hold auditions to select the acting cast members. They collaborate with the technical crew, which may consist of lighting, sound, set and costume designers. Working with producers on large productions, there may be other supporting staff such as artistic directors and music directors to collaborate on extensive production designs. The director blocks the play by adapting the actor movements to workable floor plans on the set. Leading rehearsals, he or she collaborates creatively with the actors and technical crew to make the blocking natural, changing it when necessary and allowing inspiration. Actors draw out character motivations and relationships under the watchful eye of the director, who strives to develop these expressions over the performance's required transitions. Directors finish their work when they determine the final pacing of the play reverberates with the life of an artistic vision that is satisfying and complete.
