Called to Wander is a travel blog committed to storytelling as a means to provide you inspiration and information that helps you overcome obstacles in your life so that you can travel with purpose! We believe that everyone has a story to tell and, by wandering across the world in search of adventure, we desire to share the stories of the people we meet and places we visit through journalistic prose, photography and videos. [Our Adventure] We are attempting to drive the "Pan American Highway” from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina in our truck and camper rig, affectionately called The Red Rocket. Our journey has three parts, each with a unique purpose: 1) North America, 2) Mexico and Central America and 3) South America. [North America] In the first leg of our journey we will travel to all 50 US states over the course of just under one year, with an anticipated departure date of April 1, 2018. The logistical purpose of this portion of travel will be to make our way to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, the official starting (or ending) point of the Pan American Highway. However, our journey has more purpose than just making the trip to the starting line and spending time in the vastness and beauty of North America’s most pristine nature parks. We will be filming a series of short documentaries that study the philanthropic nature of people across the country as we volunteer with individuals and organizations in each of the 50 states. We hope to capture the essence of the human spirit as it relates to giving, and hope to inspire others to become more involved in the communities they visit the next time they travel - whether for work or pleasure. What do you want to be when you grow up? We have all been asked this question at some point in our lives. The answer, and even how we approach it, has changed over time. What role does your environment play in determining your course in life? How can unique characteristics about the way you think and process information impact the outcome of your future? Incarcerating US is a documentary film illustrating how the purpose of prison has changed dramatically in the U.S. With 2.3 million people behind bars, the U.S. has more prisoners than anywhere else in the world. The rate of incarceration in the U.S. has more than quadrupled over the past thirty years. The social and economic costs of the extremely high imprisonment rate demonstrate the need to reassess and make drastic changes to the current system. http://incarceratingus.com/ Incarcerating US is a documentary film illustrating how the purpose of prison has changed dramatically in the U.S. With 2.3 million people behind bars, the U.S. has more prisoners than anywhere else in the world. This is a story about clothing. It's about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. The True Cost is a groundbreaking documentary film that pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world's leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost is an unprecedented project that invites us on an eye opening journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes. I have a most amazing role with my organization to develop the content and relationships that forward our mission to change the world through the messages we promote in our documentaries. I have the extraordinary opportunity to work with many people who have and are achieving far greater things than me, in order to create some greater impact in the world. As Director of Screening Coordination for American Made Movie, Life is My Movie Entertainment's latest feature documentary, I arrange private screenings of the movie for a variety of individuals, companies, educational institutes, and organizations across the United States. These screenings allow the movie, which has been recognized nationally, to work locally in each community as a tool for engaging community members in the solutions that exist to their area issues involving manufacturing, economic development, small business development, and education. Being the primary point of contact for privately organized screenings, I have a vast network of individuals who I seek to connect to empower them within their organization to be the agents of change they can be in their locale. I work on a personal basis with individuals to craft a specialized event that will fit within their parameters to have the impact and meet the expectations they set. I love this opportunity because I see lives change on a daily basis and I get to speak with new people and develop relationships based on a mutual desire to change the hope that people have for themselves and for their country. With our Educational Initiative, to reach every student in middle and high school in America, I wake up every day to apply my belief to my ambition that I can be a part of incredible transformation in America.
