In 2018, I began the CSCCa 3-pronged certification to become a SCCC. This included a 640-hour internship/practicum, a scientific-based written exam, and a practical exam. As an athletic performance intern at UTC, I had the pleasure of working under Ethan Reeve, Rhonda Watts, Collin Engstrom, and Tyler Dobratz. I worked with a variety of teams including Football, Wrestling, Women’ Tennis, Men’s Golf, Track/Cross-Country, Women’s Softball, and Women’s Volleyball. I was given responsibilities of taking freshman/transfer athletes through UTC’s weight room orientation. I taught our philosophy of athletic movements, body weight movements, and Olympic movements to every new incoming athlete. I assisted in team lifts providing help with proper technique, motivation, set-up, breakdown, and cleaning up of the weight room facility. I was in charge of inputting athlete data into Microsoft Excel. I helped with the athlete’s nutrition handing out milks, protein drinks, vitamins/minerals, snacks, etc. On my own, I studied The Professional’s Guide to Strength and Conditioning by the CSCCa. I did all of this while competing as a full-time-student athlete.

    • Student-Athlete
      • Aug 2015 - Mar 2020

I competed on UTC’s NCAA Division 1 wrestling program. During my collegiate campaign, I suffered two ACL tears, one in my true-freshman year and one during my fifth year of eligibility, which cut my season short and ended my career. Despite my injuries, I became a two-time Southern Conference champion and a two-time National Qualifier (2017 @ 133 lbs and 2019 @ 141 lbs).
