Serve as Acting Director of Emergency Management in leading the Georgetown University (GU) global crisis management, business continuity/COOP and enterprise resiliency programs. Program oversight and governance covers a large, complex University campus, an internationally-recognized Medical Center, a Law Center several miles from the University campus, plus associated satellite locations in Maryland, Virginia, New York and overseas (Italy, Turkey, China, London and Qatar) with approximately 6,000 employees and 15,000 students housed in over 6 million square feet of mixed-use occupancies in nearly 100 facilities. Georgetown’s U.S.-based campuses include eight academic schools within approximately 70 buildings on 100+ acres. The Department of Emergency Management & Operational Continuity (DEMOC) also supports approximately 40 distinct institutes, centers and organizations that lead GU's various philanthropic endeavors. Finally, DEMOC, provides crisis management and continuity planning support for Georgetown’s clinical and animal research organizations. Successfully provided operational support during responses to a range of critical incidents such as infectious disease health outbreaks, hazardous materials incidents, environmental spills, major fires, historic east coast snowstorms, northeast US earthquake, Hurricanes Irene & Sandy, international unrest at overseas Georgetown locations (i.e. “Arab Spring”) and many other major critical incidents. Provides support to GU’s international travel safety and security program within the Office of Risk Management, including 24/7 monitoring of international safety and security threats, civil unrest and disaster risks through partnerships with International SOS Travel Tracker programs.
