Chris and I worked on the same team for approximately a year at Orion Health and he will be sorely missed. He excelled in technical and design aspects of the job, always ensuring to place the work in the context of the issues we were solving for stakeholders. He clearly had a grasp on the vision we were striving for and the technical know-how to achieve it. More importantly, in my opinion, it was a pleasure working alongside him. I always looked forward to collaborating on a story with Chris and, as I was a junior at the time, learning as much as I could from him. Any future company Chris works at will be lucky to have him.
Amie Davis
Chris was a pleasure to work with. Although we worked in different teams, I always knew I could go to Chris for help or to discuss the best way to implement a solution. He will be missed at Orion Health.

Key responsibilities:- High level technical design of application features in consultation with business stakeholders.- Java development (JAX-WS SOAP and JAX-RS REST services, Hibernate/JPA, XML messaging, SOA using OSGi).- Javascript development (Yahoo User Interface library, React, Handlebars, SASS).- Automated test suite development using Selenium and Cucumber.- Extension of build tooling using Maven, Ant & Ivy;- Mentoring of junior staff.Highlighted Achievements:- Designed and developed functionality that allowed Medication Management to integrate with external sources of medication data by introducing the ability import external data sources via a standardised format (FHIR) and appropriate XML messaging in the same format when updates to a patient’s medication record were made.- Advocated and implemented a change in backend development practices introducing an approach using smaller units of code that are easier to test and to reason about/understand. This was largely achieved through the application of the Strategy pattern together with the functional programming constructs provided by Java 8.- Developed a bean validation framework for business services using the Hibernate Validator and a quasi-Aspect Oriented Programming approach via the implementation of a Java InvocationHandler.Applications developed:- Medication Management, a largely Javascript UI application that allows users to manage a patient’s list of medications but also facilitates integration with other applications through domain standard format (FHIR) messaging.- Global Drug Model, a database heavy application providing a means of managing, enhancing and querying drug terminologies in a standardised way.- Medicines Decision Support, a ReST API based application with a plugin architecture that facilitates the decoration of medication records with further information to support clinical decision making (such as the hierarchy-sensitive detection of duplicate medications).
