Communications and Community Engagement Advisor
-
Apr 2018 - Present
As part of the Communications and Community Engagement team, I support my internal clients and project teams with strategic advice on communication and engagement planning. Key objectives of my role: 1) helping to develop and deliver clear, concise, timely, relevant, useful, interesting, and resonant content and information to the residents of the City of Kamloops and other impacted parties. 2) foster listening and shared decision-making between and among the City/staff, residents, and other impacted parties. And then I do all the things! This includes writing/editing content for various platforms and City publications, developing materials, booking and buying advertising and media, managing content on the corporate and engagement websites, coordinating photography/videography production, planning engagement events.... and all of the other in-between things that come with rocking out in the communications world! My primary portfolio includes the solid waste and environmental services team in Civic Operations. Some common public communication and campaigns in this area that residents might be familiar with include messaging and awareness around waste reduction, recycling, curbside organics, and bear smart. Other clients I support include Real Estate, Planning and Development, Community Planning, and the Building sections within the Development, Engineering and Sustainability (DES) Department. Previous clients include Sustainability and Corporate Services. I am also a certified Information Officer and support the Emergency Operations Centre when required. Show less
