Since 1963, the La Jolla Renaissance Singers have been bringing the finest of early choral music to the San Diego area. Based in La Jolla, California, the elite choir draws members from across the county. The 25-member group performs vocal music written from the Middle Ages through the Renaissance, with occasional forays into the Romantic and Modern periods. Directed Mixed Chorale, Women’s Chorale, Concert Choir, Men's Choir and Glee Club. Taught Music Theory I & II, Music Technology, Advanced Placement Music Theory, Vocal Workshop, and Musical Theatre Workshop courses. Designed, wrote and implemented curricula for Mixed Chorale, Women’s Chorale, Concert Choir, Advanced Placement Music Theory (approved by The College Board), Musical Theatre Workshop, and Vocal Workshop classes, aligned to the NJCCCS. Organized, produced and directed District Choral Festival involving choirs from elementary, intermediate, middle, and high schools. Developed and implemented middle school recruitment program to increase enrollment in high school choral program. Lead and participated in professional development activities with and for colleagues, including Professional Learning Communities and District K-12 Music Curriculum Articulation. Designed, developed and implemented student fundraising programs. Organized parent fundraising/booster support for choral music program, raising approx. $20,000 a year for student scholarships and group travel. Acted as High School Fine and Performing Arts Department Liaison to District Fine and Performing Arts Supervisor. Welcomed new staff, coordinated all Visual Arts, Family and Consumer Science and Music faculty substitute and emergency plans and coordinated teacher end-of-school-year check out (room inventories, supplies, grades, exams, etc.) Prepared students for and adjudicated All-State Choir, All-State Opera, and Central NJ Region Choir Auditions. Conducted All State Opera festival chorus. Supervised student teachers from area colleges as part of their music teacher preparation programs. Show less
