The Ministry is made up of staff who hail from and identify with Africa, Asia, Continental Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. We have migrants, refuges and NZ born. We have people who have worked in communities and those who have worked across government.The key focus for this role was supporting the establishment phase for the Ministry in the people part of the Corporate Services area. This included developing supporting functions such as recruiting processes, leading the co-design and implementation of the Ministry's core values and developing and launching the Ministry's Flexible Working framework.

Leadership of five direct reports to deliver front line Contact and Support, Private Sessions and Wellbeing support to a survivor and witness cohort. Key responsibilities to ensure a survivor centric, trauma informed approach to the delivery and implementation of the Survivor Accounts work programme for the Inquiry. The work programme manages and delivers engagement with 3000 plus registered survivors, 1000 plus face to face sessions between survivors, witnesses and the Commission and wellbeing provision to support these engagements.

The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care was established in February 2018 and is anticipated to go through until January 2023. The Inquiry will investigate the abuse and neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults who were in the care of State and faith-based institutions in New Zealand between 1950 and 1999 and examine ways to stop further abuse. This role supports and works collaboratively with the General Manager – Survivor Accounts, Research, Policy and Investigations to ensure the successful operations of the directorate. The role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the largest directorate at the Commission. It oversees the different streams of work that are underway and provides sound advice, judgement and reporting to the General Manager at various stages through the work programme.
