In 1998, I founded a full-service multimedia production company. I learned quickly that getting this business off the ground required herculean effort– but I love to see just how I might master a challenge! As an entrepreneur, I had to establish and meet production goals while partnering with clients to provide thoughtful and insightful multimedia productions. I established excellent customer service for my clients. Often this meant carefully and tactfully advising them in the direction that I knew would be in their best interest, despite what they may have perceived they wanted. Included in my customer service was the ability to address and resolve grievances, all the while approaching issues constructively. Overall, my greatest accomplishment was being nominated and winning a regional Emmy for my feature-length nature documentary, “An Osprey Homecoming,” in 2005. The experience required collaboration, diligence and tenacity for 4 hard years of production. I’m very proud of this work.

    • Project - Projection Designer and Videographer
      • May 2008 - Nov 2008

“Mapping the River” was a collaborative effort that included faculty, students and staff from six University of Michigan academic departments. I shot, edited, and designed three high definition video streams, which I projected simultaneously during live shows. Each stream melded original chamber orchestra music, percussion, dance, poetry readings, artwork and historical data, which required insight and thoughtfulness in interweaving each part to create the appropriate mood. I collaborated and communicated with diverse individuals, often under tight deadline pressure. My contribution was indispensable for the complex and multi-tiered production’s successful performances.

    • Project - Winter Blast Film Festival - Programming Director
      • Jan 2008 - Feb 2008

For this project, I served as Lead Director with Detroit’s Winter Blast Film Festival 2008. As the festival representative and on-camera talent at press conferences, I correctly and carefully conveyed necessary information to appropriate parties. As Master of Ceremonies during the event, I greeted and interviewed the filmmakers, introduced each film and filmmaker to the audience, and fielded questions from the press. • Office Manager/Program Coordinator - Temporary Position
      • Jan 2007 - Jun 2007

Although this was a temporary position, I learned a great deal and became adept in accurate data keeping. As a program coordinator, I scheduled internal and external educational programs, booked staff, and arranged for appropriate facilities. It was imperative that I prepared contracts, invoices, and statements with zero mistakes, as well as managing the accounts receivable. I consistently maintained the donor lists and grant information and completed general office tasks efficiently. I assisted with registrations and questions, and provided excellent customer service for those attending the programs.

    • Co-Producer/Director, Videographer
      • Apr 2002 - Dec 2005

I produced, wrote, and directed the regional Emmy Award-winning, feature length documentary, “An Osprey Homecoming.” This project required the ability to tell the story with a clean narrative arc, being aware of the viewers' perceptions, and the ability to fill in gaps of understanding and information. The hours and hours of video had to be synthesized into a coherent and compelling adventure story, with the desire to open minds and acknowledge the hard work of those working with nature's creatures. I have always loved this project, even without the accolades. It is a heartfelt tribute to a beautiful and powerful bird of prey.
