      • During my 12-month placement with REF, I conducted research for the organisation into the lack of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) women in politics in Wales. I designed my own research questions and set up one-to-one interviews with people involved in Welsh politics as well as community members in Cardiff. • I wrote a detailed research brief of over 7,500 words, gaining experience in gathering and analysing data, presenting findings as well as drawing a set of comprehensive conclusions from research. • I also assisted colleagues on several projects: discrimination casework, advocacy for victims of hate crime, advocacy for minority ethnic elders (MEEA) and Prevent • I have worked with Civil Service clients such as the RAF to deliver cultural awareness training and delivered training on ‘Understanding Hate Crime’ at HM Parc Prison • I produced a comprehensive directory for ethnic minority elders on services for the elderly across Wales to be circulated to over 1,200 beneficiaries of the MEEA project • Working on Prevent, I helped organise and attended 'safe-space' workshops, where today’s Muslim youth were given the opportunity to discuss their feelings about the portrayal of Muslims in the media. I then contributed to the write-up report on this. • I attended meetings regarding the Islamic counselling service to be run with Cardiff and the Vale College and attended a Mosque Open Day for Prevent, where I registered attendees for the event and helped to ensure that the day ran smoothly.
