  Every year many people, among them many children, are suffering from hematological (blood) malignant diseases, such as acute leukemia and lymphoma. Bone marrow transplantation from a HLA matched sibling or a volunteer donor is already a standard medical procedure and represents in some cases the only therapeutic modality. Unfortunately, many patients do not have an HLA matched donor. Their only hope is you. You can save their lives by joining the worldwide registry of bone marrow donors. The Centre to Advance Public awareness and Recruitment of Bone Marrow Donor Volunteers University of Patras (CBMDP) is a nonprofit local registry centre that was created under the auspices of University of Patras in cooperation with the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of University Hospital of Patras. CBMDP was officially founded in January 2010 according to 2201/30-12-2009 decision of the board of directors of the Hellenic Transplant Organisation (National Registry). Our mission is: the public awareness for the importance of donating bone marrow to inform society about the Greek (EOM) and the worldwide (BMDW) registry. to inform people about donation and register as many volunteer donors as possible in these registries finding financial support for centre’s publicity, operating expenses, activities and especially for HLA typing.
