  Expect Respect, serving the Austin area since 1989, works to promote healthy relationships and prevent violence and abuse among children and teens. We provide innovative, research-based programs and trainings and collaborate with schools, health-care, law enforcement, and other youth-serving organizations to create a safer environment for all young people.

• Expect Respect Counselor

  Expect Respect Counselors provide school-based support groups and individual counseling to youth who have experienced violence and abuse at home, in the community, and in their peer or dating relationships. Support groups provide a safe environment to increase emotional regulation, communication skills, heal from trauma, learn skills for supportive peer and dating relationships, and experience a sense of belonging and connection. In addition, individual counseling and advocacy are provided to help keep teens safe, healthy, and in school. All services are free and confidential. A program evaluation conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, demonstrated that Expect Respect Support Groups are an effective strategy to reduce peer aggression among high-risk adolescent boys and girls, and additionally reduce teen dating violence perpetration and victimization among boys.For a list of participating schools or to make a referral, you may contact me at cfoxhall@safeaustin.org, 512.356.1580
